Jorgensen Patch boasts some of the most vibrant coral in the Great Barrier Reef.
Jorgensen Patch is located north east of Cairns and it is close to Hastings Reef and Michaelmas Cay in the Great Barrier Reef. Visiting Jorgensen Patch can be challenging because perfect weather is required for divers and snorkellers to go swimming.
Snorkelling and diving
One of the best ways to explore Jorgensen Patch is by snorkelling or diving. The area offers excellent opportunities for scuba diving with numerous walls, caves, overhangs, and gullies to discover. While snorkelling doesn’t require diving deep, it still allows you to observe the rich coral and marine life.
Consider joining a Great Barrier Reef tour to try snorkelling or diving and experience this underwater world!
Glass bottom boat
If you’d rather stay dry, you can opt for a glass bottom boat or a semi submarine. Both options allow you to view the reef species and colourful coral without getting wet. This is often a great option for young families!
Spot the different marine life
Jorgensen Patch is filled with a variety of marine life to spot as you’re snorkelling or diving. As you’re exploring you could be lucky enough to see white tip sharks and all different colourful fish.
At the sandy bottom, you might spot some blue spotted rays and giant clams that are hard to miss!
