We’ll take you to the sprawling expanse of the Atherton Tablelands, where you can marvel at stunning waterfalls and lush rainforests, take a dip in cooling waters, admire ancient landscapes from spectacular lookouts and hopefully spot some of Australia's most elusive native animals.

Atherton Tablelands & Waterfalls Tour Itinerary

Departing from Cairns, we’ll begin our day and head out to the Atherton Tablelands ready for adventure. The itinerary isn’t set in stone – we give our guides some flexibility to make the most of the day. What we can promise is plenty of fun, waterfalls and spectacular scenery!

Explore the marvelous landscapes full of sugar canes and banana farms with the stunning backdrop of the lush rainforest mountains. If you’re here for waterfalls (and who isn’t?) we’ve got plenty we can visit throughout the tour. Top of the list is the stunning Josephine Falls, home to crystal-clear waters and pristine white beaches – here you can enjoy relaxing or if you are feeling adventurous, slide down the natural rock slide!

You’re also going to want to get your camera ready and your neck warmed up for Millaa Millaa Falls. This waterfall is one of the most photographed waterfalls and been featured in countless TV commercials including the Herbal Essence Shampoo & Qantas Airlines. Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool waters of Millaa Millaa and get the classic hair-flick photo for your Insta.

Other waterfalls we might visit throughout the day include Ellinjaa Falls, Zille Falls, Dinner Falls and Nandroya Falls. There are plenty of opportunities for a swim, so be sure to bring your bathers.

Another stop is at the famous Curtin Fig Tree to marvel at the enormous strangler fig tree – known to be one of the biggest trees in Queensland. We also visit a bunch of lookouts where you can soak up the spectacular scenery of the Atherton Tablelands.

If spotting animals in the wild is your thing, keep your eyes peeled throughout the day for some of Australia’s most elusive animals. Hopefully, we’ll be lucky enough to spot a platypus, cassowary or tree kangaroo (maybe all three!)

No Atherton Tablelands tour is complete without a stop at Lake Eacham, where you can soak up the stunning lush rainforest scenery and enjoy another chance to take a refreshing swim, before heading back to the city bustle of Cairns.
