About The Tour
Get to know Australia’s outback as you make your way from the hustle and bustle of Darwin to Alice Springs. Along the way, we’ll stop off at Uluru, Australia’s most iconic landmark, as well as a collection of other fascinating attractions, where you’ll learn about the beautiful wildlife of the region and the centuries-old heritage that imbues the area. One of our Darwin to Alice Springs Tours is the perfect way to make your way North to South and discover the amazing landscape that lies between these two remote cities.
Operates: Wednesday (March – October)
Returns: Approx. 6pm (Day 5)
Please note: this tour is only suitable for those passengers between the ages of 18 – 49yrs of age.
What to Bring:
Personal water bottle, Deet based mosquito repellent, hat, swimmers, towel, comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing, long sleeves & pants for night, day pack to carry all of these items, camera, medications you may require and a sleeping bag. Bring your own sleeping bag or hire one from us for $20pp.
Day One (D)
The tour kicks off in Darwin, where we’ll make our way to the first stop at Edith Falls. We’ll take a short hike to the pools and cool off here before stopping in the quaint town of Katherine for supplies. As we head towards Alice Springs, we’ll make a pitstop at Mataranka for another swim in the Mataranka Thermal Springs before having dinner in the historic Daly Waters Pub. Overnight, you’ll bed down in shared dorm accommodation.
Day Two (No Meals Included)
Day two begins with a drive south to Alice Springs, stopping on the way at The Devils Marbles. There will be plenty of time to explore this mesmerizing rock formation and hear stories about the area. We’ll continue on to Alice Springs afterwards, arriving in the evening at our dorm accommodation.
Day Three (L/D)
We’ll come and get you at 6am to start the day. We’ll make our way to Uluru and head straight for the Cultural Centre after lunch so you can learn about the beautiful wildlife and fascinating Aboriginal history of the site.
Afterwards, we’ll take a guided walk around the base of Uluru before watching the magical sunset from the viewing platform armed with bubbly and nibbles. We’ll then head back to camp for dinner and a night under the stars.
Day Four (B/L/D)
We’ll kick off day four with an early breakfast before watching the sunrise over Uluru. Then it’s on to Kata Tjuta for an incredible stroll through the Valley of the Winds. After refueling at lunch, we’ll move on to Kings Creek Station, stopping on the way at the impressive George Gill Range.
Once at camp, we’ll tuck into a traditional Aussie BBQ around the campfire before sleeping under the stars again.
Day Five (B/L)
The final day starts early as we take a breath-taking walk around the rim of Kings Canyon after breakfast. We’ll check out the north and south walls, the Garden of Eden, and the Natural Amphitheatre here before hitting the road and heading back to Alice Springs. On the way, we’ll make a pitstop at the camel farm for a camel ride through the desert. The tour ends in Alice Springs in the late afternoon.
