This March, we’ve been raising money for cancer research, one step at a time. Time for a progress update!
We had a strong start at the beginning of the month! We had a generous donation from NFL superstar Joe Burrow, who came on our Great Ocean Road tour. Plus, our company Sightseeing Tours Australia matched a $2500 donation. This helped us surpass our original goal of $5000, which left room to expand the goal to $7000.
Cam had a work trip to Berlin and trekked the challenge over there (with some very cold city walks), while Liz took Eli & Leo down to Mornington to bash out some Kms. Things were looking promising.
The pressure is on
But as the month went on, the Wardies faced a couple of obstacles (some stairs on Queen Street, and a stress fracture to name a couple).
Unfortunately, half of the Wardies team are injured! With Liz and Eli cheering from the sidelines, it’s up to Cam and Leo to take one for the team. To smash the collective family goal of 440km, it’s time for Cam and Leo to trek 16.5km per day to get to the finish line by the end of March.
With 2 down, and 2 left, it’s time to give it that final push for the final days of March. With busy schedules, trekking 16.5 kilometres a day is a challenge…so this is a real test of perseverance!
Every step counts…
Do they see this as a setback? Absolutely not!
If anything, it’s made them even more determined to tackle the final goal and hit $7000.
‘If we managed to make $5000 before the challenge even started, we believe anything is possible! We’re truly grateful for the donations and encouragement we’ve received so far.
We’re delighted to be able to contribute to such an incredible charity like the Cancer Council. The Cancer Council do some truly amazing work for cancer prevention, support and cancer research.’ – The Ward Family
Support us in the final stretch!
If you’d like to support us in the last push and get involved in fundraising for such an incredible charity like the Cancer Council, then we’d appreciate any support. No donation is too small, and every dollar counts.
Contributions of any size can have a great impact on life-saving cancer research. These breakthroughs can increase life expectancy, improve prevention and improve support.
Each dollar is valuable towards this amazing cause.
As it’s the final push, and the pressure is – so let’s smash the rest of the month and raise as much as we can.
