Best Time to Visit Hobart
Summer (December to February): longest days, warmest weather, Taste of Tasmania food festival (late December), and Sydney to Hobart yacht race arrival (early January). Very busy; book accommodation and tours ahead.
Autumn (March to May): mild, good light, fewer crowds. Good for photography.
Winter (June to August): cold and short days, but Dark Mofo (MONA’s winter festival in June) is worth visiting for. MONA’s installations work well in the dark.
Spring (September to November): wildflowers at Mount Field and around the Huon Valley, pleasant temperatures, building visitor numbers.
