Wildlife and Highlights

Kangaroo Island is home to one of only a few accessible wild Australian sea lion colonies in the country. At Seal Bay, you walk among them on a guided tour. Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, ospreys, and sea eagles are also regularly spotted across the island.

Remarkable Rocks at sunset or sunrise are worth planning around. Admirals Arch is a natural rock formation with a long-nosed fur seal colony underneath.

Recovery note: the January 2020 bushfires burned around 50% of the island. Recovery is visible and ongoing. It is part of the story of KI today, and the island is fully open to visitors.
