We’re telling cancer where to go.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. It is estimated that there are over 450 new cases every day.

But with the help of the non-government charity Cancer Council, the world is slowly seeing breakthroughs in cancer research development. The Cancer Council is a leading organisation in cancer research – and in the last 5 years, they’ve invested a mammoth $250 million into cancer research.

Since March 2021, the Cancer Council have run a month-long fitness challenge called the March Charge. March 2025 sees the return of the popular challenge! This month, people all over Australia have been telling cancer where to go, one step at a time.

This year, it was time for us to act and do our bit for cancer research.

The Challenge: The March Charge

Thousands of people are hiking, running, swimming, and cycling their way towards life-saving fundraising. This fundraiser has helped invest in cancer prevention, support systems and life-saving research. Each kilometre covered helps to raise money for cancer research.

From this challenge alone, the Cancer Council have funded some 309 research projects and has invested a whopping $51.7 million in research.

People can walk, run, swim, cycle, and move their way forward into a set distance goal of their choosing. Those taking part can set their own distance km goal, and smash it out by the end of the month.

Anyone can participate, in any part of Australia!

Participants in the challenge have been tackling it solo, or joining forces with friends/family.

Sightseeing Tours Australia is proud to contribute to this incredible cause and tell cancer that it has no place in our world.

The Wardies are charging towards $7000

Sightseeing Tours Australia’s very own Cam and Liz have taken charge of the challenge!

The Ward family (or ‘Wardies’) Cam, Liz, Leo & Eli have been tackling some serious kilometres this March.

They’ve undertaken the challenge to trek a collective 440km between the four of them, to reach an initial target of $5000.

To put that into perspective, they’re walking the equivalent of Melbourne to Mount Gambier.

The Wardies hit the ground running

But before March even started, the Wardies had already outperformed their original goal of $5000 goal. By the end of February, the Wardies raised $5500!

Sightseeing Tours Australia proudly matched $2500 in donations, making up half of the goal.

Then we had a surprise special guest on our Great Ocean Road tour…none other than American Football quarterback Joe Burrow.

The NFL star donated a generous $3000, which helped us surpass our goal quicker than we imagined. Cheers, Joe!

But it doesn’t stop there. Let’s aim for the $7000 mark.
