Whether you’re into an action-packed adventure crammed with outdoor activities, or a peaceful getaway lazing about on one of the 26 pristine beaches, our Port Stephens Tours have something for all types of travellers. Besides the myriad water sports on offer, including snorkelling, surfing and fishing, the area is also well known for its hiking trails, delicious seafood and shifting sand dunes.

Port Stephens is also an animal-lover’s dream! About 150 bottlenose dolphins call the area home year-round and whales stop by on their annual migration between May – October. You can view and interact with these charismatic marine mammals on a wildlife spotting cruise from Port Stephens. On land, Aussie marsupials including koalas and kangaroos inhabit the surrounding bushland. Be sure to keep an eye out for these adorable animals on any hikes or walks in the area!

Port Stephens Day Tours from Sydney

From 4WDing over the expansive Stockton sand dunes to a dolphin watching cruise, you can enjoy everything Port Stephens has to offer on our one-day tour from Sydney. We depart Sydney early to make the most of this day trip, arriving first at a wildlife park to meet some Aussie animals. Enjoy close encounters with kangaroos, koalas, snakes and much more.

For lunch, we arrive in Nelson Bay, the main town in Port Stephens. Take a wander through the town and soak up the local atmosphere as you grab some food or pick up a few souvenirs. Then, it’s time to hit the water! We’ll head out on a boat cruise to spot some of the resident bottlenose dolphins. You’ll charmed by their charisma as these curious and playful marine mammals jump and play in the water. Or, during the months between May and November, you can upgrade to include a whale watching tour. The boat will head out further out into the ocean to spot humpback and minke whales on their way up and down the east coast during migration.

Once we’re back on land, we’ll head to explore the Stockton sand dunes with a 4WD tour. These vast sand dunes are the largest in the southern hemisphere and are constantly shifting and changing due to the wind. Then it’s time to enjoy the last of the spectacular views of Port Stephens before we head back to Sydney.
