Make your way to the Olive Pink Botanic Garden by 4.30 pm. Here, you will meet your tour group and talk over the coming days with your guide. Return to your Alice Springs hotel to settle in for an early night ahead of our departure the next morning.
Day 1: Alice Springs to Wallaby Gap” ]
Put on your boots and join us on a 5 day hiking tour through Australia’s outback. We’ll start our first day with a 14km walk which offers stunning views of the rugged area, especially from Euro Ridge you’ll be in awe of the view. After a lovely and relaxing walk, we’ll make our way to Wallaby Gap, where we’ll hop on our bus which will bring you to your campsite within the MacDonnell Ranges National Park. If we have some time left, we’ll take you to a natural waterhole for a swim. Before dinner we’ll enjoy a Kungkas Can Cook tasting platter (aboriginal catering company) and then camp at a private campsite with safari tents or bush swags.

Day 2 is all about discovering the western part of Larapinta where we’ll go for a 13.4km hike. Keep in mind that this section is only suitable for people who are ready for an active hike and have a good fitness level. Be amazed by the views you’ll see along the walk, such as views of Haasts Bluff and the NT’s highest point; Mt Zeil. We might dip in one of the natural pools to cool off if we have some extra time. Spend the night on a remote campsite and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Today we’ll cover a distance of around 11 kilometres and explore Ormiston Gorge and its fantastic surrounds. This beautiful gorge is a super famous sight in the Northern Territory and a sacred area for the Western Arrernte people. We then head towards Finke River, which is part of Sections 10 and 11 of the Larapinta Trail. Did you know that this river is one of the oldest rivers in the world? You’ll also be walking between high cliffs and colourful rocks. Immerse yourself in the tranquillity and incredible landscape of this region. Eventually, we return to our campsite for some relaxation time.

You have to get up early today (hiking will start around 3am), but you will be fine with this as soon as you are at the top of Mount Sonder! It’s a tough hike, but your effort will be well rewarded. This 1380m high mountain offers unbelievable 360 degrees views which will leave stunned for years to come. Once back at camp, you can enjoy a delicious Aussie breakfast, because you have earned it and probably need it. In the afternoon you can spend some time on your own at camp. Or check out Ormiston Gorge one more time. Tonight is the last time on this tour that you’ll be sleeping under the starry sky, so enjoy all of it.

Your last and final day includes a fantastic walk through Ormiston Pound with Chewing’s Range and Mount Giles. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Ormiston Gorge before packing camp and driving back to Alice Springs. In the evening, join your guide and tour mates for a delicious drink at Alice’s Outback Restaurants. Reminisce together about the last 5 days and share some banter one last time as this is where your tour will finish.
