Barossa Valley is home to some of Australia’s finest wineries.
Boasting over 150 wineries and more than 80 cellar doors, the Barossa Valley is a haven for wine connoisseurs and casual sippers alike. However, with such great options comes the difficult task of choosing which to visit. To help you create your itinerary, we’ve rounded up our 5 best wineries in the valley.
Jacob’s Creek
Open: 10 am-4:30 pm daily
Named after the small creek that runs through the Barossa Valley, Jacobs Creek is one of Australia’s most recognized wine brands. Their sun-soaked winery is set just 2 km southwest of the creek, near where the first grapevines were planted in 1847.
Perfected over 170 years of winemaking, Jacobs Creek’s award-winning beverages are impeccable in both flavor and presentation. At their Barossa Valley winery, you can taste a huge selection of popular varieties and blends, from robust reds and light whites to soft roses and sparkling wines.
The gorgeous grassy area stretching out from the main building towards the vineyards is perfect for wining and kicking back.
If you want to visit this in isolation, they also offer a range of wine tastings and experiences.

Lambert Estate
Open: 11 am-5 pm daily
One of the newer vineyards in the Barossa Valley, Lambert Estate is a family-owned and operated winery serving premium wines in one of the area’s most serene parts.
You can taste some of its many wines from the quirky tasting bar which is made from red gums that have been grown around the estate.
You can learn about the winemaking process that has made this particular brand one of the world’s favorites. There’s also a gallery that showcases some of the latest talent from the area as independent shows or part of wider cultural events in the region.
Lambert Estate is also part of the itinerary for our Barossa Valley & Hahndorf Wine Tour.
Taste Eden Valley Wine Room
Located in the charming town of Eden Valley (fondly known by locals as the Garden of Grapes and Gums) is the equally quaint Taste Eden Wine Room. Set in a beautiful stone cottage surrounded by roses and shaded canopies.
Taste Eden offers a unique tasting experience year-round. In summer, you can enjoy a delicious platter of regional meats, cheese, and fruit with a light white wine. In winter, you might instead opt for a deep red by the log fire.
Fourteen of their 80 wines for sale are family-owned brands from the Eden Valley, and they have over 30 Riesling varieties to choose from!
Taste Eden not only offers tastings but also a masterclass, in which you can learn all about the grapes and techniques used to create the final product!
Murray Street Vineyards
Open: 11 am-5 pm daily
Another newbie on the block relative to some of the valley’s long-standing players is Murray Street Vineyards. Impressively, its on-site Greenock tasting room has earned the title of “Best Cellar Door in Barossa.” Its wines were also quick to earn international recognition.
Murray Street Vineyards is renowned for its different winemaking process that incorporates the use of native flora. And, when it comes to wine tasting at the cellar door, it’s a wholly relaxing experience set in a lounge overlooking the incredible views of the Barossa Valley. While tucking into the unique flavors, visitors are also welcome to sample platters of locally produced meats, cheeses, and bread.
Kies Wines
Open: 9 am-4 pm daily
Kies Wines is a proudly family-owned winery with a bustling cellar door and adjoining cafe – Monkey Nut Cafe. The setup (which even includes a small tea shop showcasing gourmet tea and quirky teapots) leaves plenty of room for laid-back wining and dining.
They offer a range of events – high tea, grape pick and stomp, and a wine blending experience!
