Mount Buller is a great location to visit for a winter getaway.
When you visit Mount Buller, chances are that you are visiting during the winter. That means it will be cold and snowy, but also beautiful. Be sure to take a look at the weather ahead of time and plan accordingly!
What should I bring?
It’s important to bring the basics with you on a day trip to the mountains. You’ll want to be sure to pack a warm hat, gloves or mittens, a winter jacket, and winter boots. If you plan to spend lots of time in the snow, you may also want to bring snow pants.
If you are planning to ski or snowboard, you can bring your gear so you’re ready to go once you get to the mountains!
Some other things you may want to bring are spending money, a camera, a scarf and other warm gear.
What can I hire?
You don’t need to own your own snow gear to visit Mount Buller. An alternative option is to hire gear once you arrive at the mountain.
If you plan to spend time in the snow, you can hire all your snow gear. This includes a jacket, snow pants and winter boots. Be sure to bring your own hat and gloves or mittens, otherwise you will have to purchase those from one of the shops.
You can also hire ski and snowboard equipment if you plan to hit the slopes. You can hire a snowboard, skis and poles, and a helmet. Goggles are not able to be hired, so you will have to bring your own or purchase them from the shop.

If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your thing, you can spend some time making snow angels or building snowmen. There is also the option to hire a toboggan and spend the day sledding down various hills.
When you’re not playing in the snow, take a stroll through the scenic Alpine village. Spend some time warming up in one of the restaurants, browse the cozy gear at a small shop, or learn about the history of Mount Buller at the Alpine Museum.
