The Crackenback Trail: The longest run in Australia
If you’re a keen snowboarder or skier, you won’t be disappointed by Thredbo’s Crackenback Trail, which is just under 4km long! You’ll be able to pick up speed with this long run, and it’s got some thrilling turns along the way down. It’s the perfect slope for intermediates and advanced snowgoers who want a long, smooth ride.
New to the snow? Thredbo’s Friday Flat run is a gentle, beginner-friendly run, and there’s plenty of opportunity to take a lesson with the on-site ski school. Beginner slopes are specially designed to help beginners learn solid technique while making progress!
In just 7 minutes, the snow lift can take passengers from the bottom to the top of the mountain, so you can rinse and repeat your runs all day.
Lift Passes
To experience snowboarding and skiing at Thredbo, adventurers can purchase different types of lift passes. There are heaps of different passes, depending on what kind of experience you want and how long you’re staying.
From a casual intro lesson to a full season pass, you’ll find the right pass for you. There’s even a Winter Adventure pass for those who want to experience Thredbo without putting on their skis.
But if you’re an avid snow adventurer, you’re in luck. With over 53 ski runs, you won’t struggle to find a way to whizz down the mountain. There are plenty of different terrains that differ to suit all ages and abilities.
The Village: Eat and drink your way around the slopes

Thredbo is a quaint, picturesque alpine village that has one of the prettiest mountainous landscapes in Australia. There are tons of places to shop, eat, drink and relax.
The ski village serves up a European feel, and it’s packed with lively bars, cosy pubs, and great gourmet restaurants. You’ll find loads of spots to warm up after a cold day out on the slopes. From tasty burger spots, to bakeries, coffee shops, cosy pubs and swish cocktail bars – there will be a place for you to refuel after your adventurous day on the mountain.
Whatever you’re feeling to eat/drink, you’ll find it at Thredbo! Plus, there’s heaps of entertainment all around the mountain, with a ton of events happening all winter long.

You’ll find plenty of things to do if you want to take a break from the skis! Thredbo is home to the only lift-accessed mountain bike park; it’s simple for all abilities, and you’ll be able to access some of the best mountain biking trails. Or if you’d rather explore on foot, take a hike up to the highest peak in Australia.
When you’re after a break from the snow, Thredbo’s impressive Sports Centre boasts a whole range of fun activities. Bounce around on pool inflatables, climb up bouldering walls, and take a journey along the alpine coaster. Visiting Thredbo
Depending on where you’re coming to Thredbo from Sydney, the drive can be anything from 5 to 7 hours if you’re coming from Sydney. If you’re coming from Melbourne, it’s an extra hour. Coming from Canberra? It’ll only take you around 2 hours.
If you’re going with your vehicle, then be mindful of the road conditions, as some vehicles might require snow chains! Check the resort’s policy for travelling with your vehicle, as some parts might require snow chain access.
When to visit
The season at Thredbo runs from the June long weekend all the way right until the October long weekend, so you’ll have heaps of time to visit this wintery oasis. Although winter is the busiest time for Thredbo thanks to its snow dumps, exploring the National Park in the summer is equally as magical. The snow might have melted, but the beauty won’t!.
The high terrain and gorgeous peaks make Thredbo a beautiful spot for a hike with some breathtaking panoramic views. The whole mountain range looks completely different, and you’ll experience the alpine beauty differently!
