When is the best time of year to visit Mount Buller?

Mount Buller is full of activities for visitors throughout every season of the year. If you’re going for skiing and snowboarding, you’ll want to visit between June and September.

However, the best month for snow is during the heart of winter, which is in July and August. This is when you can typically find the most snowfall, making it the perfect time for all of your snow centred activities. In fact, you’ll find an average snowfall of 40 to 48 centimetres!

Now that you know the best time to visit Mount Buller, let’s explore the best activities to enjoy while visiting.

Ski and Snowboard

One of the main activities on Mount Buller is, of course, skiing and snowboarding!

Regardless of whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned pro, there are heaps of trails for everybody. If you are just starting out with the sport, you can take a lesson to get the hang of things before setting off on your own.

You don’t need to have your own gear to enjoy this activity. There are shops on the mountain where you can hire gear. From snowpants to the actual skis and snowboard, you’ll find everything you need!

Take a Snowy Hike

There are lots of trails weaving around the mountain that are perfect for hiking. If there is a fair bit of snow on the ground, you can hire snowshoes.

Warm up With Food and Drinks

When you need to take a break from snow activities and refuel, there are heaps of cafes and restaurants to choose from. If you’re craving a specific type of food or drink, you’re sure to find it on Mount Buller.

Hire a Toboggan

You don’t need to ski or snowboard to have fun on the slopes. There are designated parts of the mountain that are specifically for toboggan fun.

You can purchase a toboggan pass, which includes a toboggan hire and grants you access to the two toboggan parks for the entire day.
