Discover the countless stretches of beach found throughout Australia’s outdoors which will leave you gobsmacked!

The coastline of Australia promises numerous sprawling beaches, coves, and bays that are perfect for relaxing, swimming, and adventuring. In fact, Australia’s beaches are some of the best-loved in the world, thanks to their pristine sands and turquoise waters. Here are some of the best to kick back on!

  • 1. Bondi Beach

This vibrant stretch of sand in bustling Sydney is perhaps one of the most famous beaches in the world. Think bronzed surfers, laidback cafes, and an abundance of waterside activities. Two surf clubs patrol the beaches here, making it the perfect pitstop for beginners and pros alike.

If you’re more of a skater than a surfer, the skate ramp at the southern end of the beach might be a better hangout for you.

  • 2. Bells Beach

Set along the wild expanse of the Great Ocean Road, Bells Beach promises visitors another surfer’s paradise. The powerful point break here is renowned around the world, and it even plays host to world championship surfing contests every year. Known as the surf capital of Australia, the beach brings both pro surfers and amateurs, letting you hit up the waves if you’re a first timers. If you are more of a watcher, you can visi this beach during the surfing comps, particularly for Bells Beach Easter Rally, which is held every long Easter weekend, bringing both locals and tourists from all over to see the best surfers in the world battle it out on the waves!

  • 3. Lucky Bay

In lively Esperance, Western Australia, you’ll find Lucky Bay. Boasting a wide stretch of beach and stunning blue waters, this sheltered bay is a great place to enjoy some water-based activities, like snorkelling, fishing, and boating. As well as hitting the waves, you can take a leisurely strong along the length of the beach to a lookout point that celebrates the bay’s rich and fascinating history. Spend the night here, too, at the pretty camping spot that overlooks the bay.

  • 4. Cape Tribulation

The Daintree Rainforest in Queensland plays host to a beautiful stretch of coastline known as Cape Tribulation. This unique spot marks the point where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef, making an exceptional spot to soak up the wildlife and views. Kick back in bars, stroll along the water’s edge, and find yourself at the edge of one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders in this little slice of paradise.

  • 5. Whitehaven Beach

On the Whitsundays, you’ll find Whitehaven Beach, one of the prettiest pieces of sand in the entire country. Spreading throughout the Coral Sea, it is made up of the beautiful sandy fringes of more than 70 unique little islands. Here, you’ll find shelter from the Great Barrier Reef, meaning there are few waves – ideal for sailing and leisurely water pursuits. You can easily visit on a day trip but, if you want longer, grab somewhere to stay on Airlie Beach, which lies on the mainland close to the islands.
