Important Information
This tour is recommended for travellers aged 8 years and above.
Because this is a camping tour, involvement is required. You might have to help prepare meals and set up/pack up camp.
This tour also includes hikes and requires a reasonable level of fitness.
Luggage is restricted to a maximum of one 15kg backpack/soft travel bag and one hand luggage size bag. Please don't bring a suitcase.
Are you in the Northern Territory? Then you might want to start from Uluru and do this tour in reverse.
8 Day Adelaide to Uluru Tour Itinerary
Travel across Australia’s red centre starting in Adelaide and making your way to impressive Uluru. These beautiful landscapes sometimes look like they’re not from this world. Explore the fantastic Flinders Ranges National Park, the underground world of Coober Pedy and the sacred UNESCO world heritage site Uluru. In the evening you’ll sleep under stars in your own awesome swag. Join us on our 8 day Adelaide to Uluru Camping Adventure!

Day 1: Adelaide to Flinders Ranges
We’ll start our day nice and early from Adelaide and make our way to Southern Flinders Ranges. Here we’ll go for a hike through ancient rocks at Alligator Gorge. After our hike, we’ll enjoy lunch and check out the Pichi Richi Railway. Next is the famous Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park where we’ll hike Arkaroo Rock before going to Wilpena Pound Resort to enjoy the Welcome to Country experience of the Adnyamathanha people. Finally, we’ll hop on the bus and head to Skytrek Willow Springs Station for our first night of swag camping of this tour.

Day 2: Discover Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park
We begin day two with a tasty breakfast before hiking through tall trees and checking out waterholes. All with stunning vistas! What we are going to do next is something you won’t ever forget. We’ll be joining a Park Ranger who is going tell us all about conservation activities within the national park. And lucky you, you can be part of this too as we will be taking part in a conservation activity. Then it’s on to a fun pub for a refreshing drink. Once back at camp you can chill out, have dinner and enjoy another night under the stunning milky way.

Day 3: Flinders Ranges to William Creek (via the Oodnadatta track)
We depart the Flinders Ranges to start our off road adventure on the Oodnadatta Track. This impressive desert area, that goes through the largest working cattle station in the world is around 614 km. After exploring a part of the track, we’ll head to William Creek, a small outback town with less than 10 people. Treat yourself to a cold drink in the famous William Creek Hotel and then slide into your swag.

Day 4: William Creek to Coober Pedy
On day 4, we continue our adventure and head out to THE opal place of Australia: Coober Pedy. Spend some time on your own or with your tour mates in this popular mining town. We’ll check out the Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, where you can hunt for your own opal! Anyone a fan of kangaroos? Then you’re going to love our next stop. We’ll be visiting Josephine’s Gallery and Kangaroo Orphanage to learn more about what they do for our beautiful orphaned kangaroos. The rest of the day is yours to do whatever you please, and there is plenty to explore. In the evening, you’ll be sleeping in an underground bunker – how exciting!

Day 5: Coober Pedy to Watarrka/Kings Canyon
Today we’ll leave Coober Pedy behind and drive past the important Dingo Fence and Breakaways Reserve, as well as The Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park, where you will be mesmerised by the scenery of the Moon Plains. Then we’ll cross the border from South Australia to the Northern Territory, or the Top End. We’ll drive to Watarrka National Park, home to the famous Kings Canyon. We’ll be getting to Kings Creek Station in the afternoon, where we’ll be staying tonight. Before rolling out your swag again, enjoy a delicious dinner at sunset.

Day 6: Wattarka/Kings Canyon to Uluru
Rise and shine early today, so we have plenty of time to do the Kings Canyon Rim Walk. You’ll be in awe of the stunning canyons, waterholes, 300 metre high sandstone wall and much more! Enjoy the amazing vistas and check out Priscilla’s Crack (from the Aussie movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert). Take in some unforgettable views of the Lost City and the beautiful Garden of Eden. We’ll then have a tasty lunch and jump on the bus to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. This is one of the highlights of this tour as we can experience a sunset like you have never seen before. Enjoy your dinner and then crawl into your beloved swag.

Day 7: Explore Uluru
Now that you have seen Uluru by sunset, you probably also want to see Uluru during sunrise. So, get up early! We won’t just let you watch the sacred rock from a distance. No, we’ll get way closer and go for a guided (10km) walk around Uluru. Learn more about its history and the aboriginal culture of this place. After lunch, we’ll visit the Cultural Centre to learn even more about the Anangu culture and its people. In the afternoon we take part in a fun and authentic dot painting workshop, creating your own artwork to take home and treasure forever.
We’ll then head back to camp where you can relax. One of the best places to do this is around the pool. Or ask your guide about the activities at the Ayers Rock Resort. This is also our camping spot, so you can once more roll out your swag for a last night sleeping under the stars.

Day 8: Kata Tjuta to Yulara
You might have thought yesterday was the end. But this day is not over yet! Today you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise over Kata Tjuta. We’ll also be going for a guided tour in the Valley of the Winds and check out more areas of Kata Tjuta. Although we would love to enjoy a few more days or weeks here, our 8 day trip does come to an end today. We’ll bring you back to Yulara, or if you have chosen the Airport, we can drop you off there too.
