Half Day McLaren Vale Wine Experience Itinerary
Embark on a day out of the city and experience touring the cool-climate wineries of McLaren Vale. The day will begin in Adelaide’s centre, where you will hop on our state-of-the-art bus, sitting back and enjoying the scenic drive through the stunning Adelaide Hills towards McLaren Vale.
Our first stop on our adventure is at the splendid Chapel Hill Winery. The iconic 150-year-old Chapel treats you to an experience of fine wine, heritage, and art, spoiling your taste buds with their delightful wine tasting experience as they offer a stunning range of wine varieties which match the picturesque setting.
Next stop is along the Main Street of McLaren Vale, where you can choose your next adventure for yourself. Those looking for another glass of wine can head to the nearby Hardy Tintara’s Cellar door. A long-standing favourite in Mclaren Vale, the Hardy Tintara’s Cellar door was converted in 1878 from an old flour mill into one of the best cellar doors in the country, allowing guests to taste a delicious variety of wines while getting a better insight into the rich history of the McLaren Vale. For others looking for a sweet treat, you can head to the street’s Almond Train, an old converted train carriage that is jam-packed with every type of almond treat imaginable. The Aussie Fruchocs chocolate factory is another worthy stop, with plenty of sweet gifts to fill your bags to the brim with!
After your free time, we will meet up again to head off to our next winery stop- Shingleback Winery! Established by two brothers, Kym and John Davey, Shingleback skyrocketed to popularity with their rich and full-flavoured wine. The winery is full of passion, serving up buckets of knowledge to go with their finest wines and cheeseboard platters.
Once you’ve had your quota of wine for the day, we will head back to Adelaide, taking the scenic route home so you can marvel at the pristine coastline. Here we will have a quick stop at the charming seaside town of Glenelg, where you are given the choice to simply stretch your legs for a quick walk before hopping back on the bus to finish up the remainder of the journey to Adelaide. Otherwise, opt to finish the tour in Glenelg, spending the rest of the day’s hours in this coastal spot before tramming back into Adelaide by yourself.
