On our Murray River Cruise Day Tour, you’ll voyage along some of the most dramatic landscapes of South Australia’s Murray River. Onboard the impressive multi-level ship the Proud Mary, you’ll be able to take in the panoramic vistas to your heart’s content. After your included 2-course lunch, you’ll also have the chance to admire the sights and sounds of Mannum township from afar before stopping off for optional tours at the Melba Chocolate Factory and Woodside Cheese Wrights. And who could resist that?

Itinerary

Murray River Cruise with Lunch from Adelaide Itinerary

Starting out from various locations in central Adelaide you’ll travel by coach to the banks of the Murray River, the longest in Australia. Stepping into the comfortable surrounds of the Proud Mary, you’ll begin a two-hour cruise along the river.

Built in 1981 in the style of the first vessels to travel any great distance along the Murray River, you have the choice between the Proud Mary’s inner and outer decks. If you linger outside, be sure not to miss the lavish 2-course lunch which is laid on as part of the voyage.

Passing landscapes that shift between sheer orange cliffs and stands of large red eucalyptus and weeping willows, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for the region’s birdlife, including pelicans, cockatoos and galahs.

Having completed your sedate trip downriver, you’ll be offered one last glimpse of this magical landscape from a viewing point above the historic township of Mannum, first settled by Europeans in 1840 before rapidly becoming an important centre for boat building in the region.

Turning back towards Adelaide, our Murray River Cruise Day Tour continues through the vineyards and former German settlements of the Adelaide Hills. On route you’ll have the opportunity to satisfy your sweet tooth at the Melba Chocolate Factory, or your savoury cravings at the Woodside Cheese Wrights (not included), topping off an incredible day of experiences on the Murray River.
