Victor Harbor Day Tour from Adelaide Itinerary
Your Victor Harbor Day Tour begins as soon as you meet your local driver and guide at the pick-up points in central Adelaide. As you make your way south towards the coast, you’ll learn all about the region’s history, including its settlement by people from throughout Europe.
You’ll stop for a chance to enjoy a morning tea (own cost) at Strathalbyn, a town settled by Scottish immigrants on the banks of the River Angas. You’ll also travel through the impressive natural landscapes of the Adelaide Hills, dotted with both vineyards and towns reflecting their German heritage.
The next stop on this full day tour will see you arrive in Goolwa, which takes its name from the local Ngarrindjeri Aborigine for the elbow. You’ll then visit Port Elliot, which is an equally attractive small town located on Horseshoe Bay on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
If you thought these sights were impressive, you’re only now reaching the highlight of the tour: Victor Harbor itself. A favourite of summer vacation seekers escaping Adelaide, the town has an ambience all of its own.
Whether you stroll along the seafront or pop into its art galleries, you’ll soon find yourself absorbed by the town’s heritage. You can also choose to take a horse-drawn tram to Granite Island or visit Seal Island. Between June and September, you should also keep your eyes peeled for southern right whales as they breach the harbour’s surface.
When your time in Victor Harbor comes to an end, you’ll return by coach to your chosen drop-off point in Adelaide, by way of the McLaren Vale wine region.
