The island is home to an abundance of Aussie wildlife, from kangaroos, seals and koalas to possums, echidnas and birds. You’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in the island’s conservation efforts and lend a hand to protect its unique biodiversity. Swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters, and chill out on the white sandy beaches. Enjoy your evenings camping (in an incident of rain, there is a veranda on site). By nightfall, retreat to your cosy swag and marvel at the epic Milky Way overhead.
Day 1: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
Start at 6:30am, hop on the bus to the ferry terminal, then a 45 minute ferry ride to the island. After meeting the guide, jump on board the coach and begin your journey on Kangaroo Island. After your introduction, you have the opportunity to get involved in some valuable conservation work with Passport to Recovery.
The rest of the morning is yours for the taking – Swim with dolphins or seals (own cost), or head off on the Ironstone Hill hike, taste honey from the famous Ligurian bees, and discover the secrets behind the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery.
In the afternoon, we will all reunite at Dudley Wines to take in the spectacular ocean views, enjoy a wine tasting, and toast to the start of your adventure! Set up your swags at Happiness for your first of two nights here under the stars!

Day 2: Kangaroo Island
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast, followed by an exciting wildlife encounter. At Seal Bay, you’ll get to encounter the third-largest colony of endangered Australian sea lions, learning all about these fascinating creatures with a 45-minute tour with the National Parks & Wildlife guides.
You will then visit the popular Flinders Chase National Park. The national park is home to beautiful beaches, an array of wildlife and impressive rock formations. Go for a stroll along the boardwalk at Admirals Arch, spot  New Zealand fur seals, and be in awe of the remarkable rocks. Explore the bush at Weirs Cove and refuel with a picnic lunch before continuing into the exciting afternoon.
As if you haven’t seen enough wildlife today, we have more animal spotting to do today! Seal Bay is home to almost 800 sea lions. During your 45 minute guided tour, you’ll learn some more about these beautiful animals. We’ll go for a little stroll to the beach where you’ll be walking amongst the sea lions. They’ll probably not really be bothered about your presence and love to snooze away under the warm sun. Eventually, we’ll head back to our camp for another tasty dinner and a comfortable night under the Milky Way.

First stop, Cape Willoughby to check out Australia’s first lighthouse, before making your way to Pennington Bay for a tough (but worth it!) walk up 500 steps to Prospect Hill – Kangaroo Island’s highest vantage point. After this, you’ll be keen to take a refreshing dip at Kingscote Jetty before heading to Stokes Bay for lunch.
Your final stop of this epic journey will be at Emu Bay. See why this was voted Australia’s best beach as you take a stroll along the white sand or dip your toes into the crystal clear waters.
Sadly your Kangaroo Island Adventure must now come to an end as we make our way back to Penneshaw to catch the 5:30pm ferry back to the mainland.* From Cape Jarvis, your Sealink bus will connect you back to Adelaide by 9pm.
