During our delightful adventure through the gorgeous landscape of the Atherton Tablelands, we’ll try many local drinks, ingredients and products. Taste the freshest fruits, munch on cheese, chocolates & nuts and sip away on delicious ciders, beers and wines produced in this awesome region. You’ll also be stopping at the Platypus Park for some incredible platypus viewing and be able to take in the greenery of the rainforest. This one day tour starting from Cairns is great for enthusiastic foodies.

Itinerary

1 Day Outback Tasting Tour from Cairns Itinerary

We’ll begin our 1 day Outback Tasting tour from Cairns at 8am and embark on a picturesque drive to Lake Barrine National Park. Your first stop is the natural lake which is originally a crater that has now filled with water after a volcanic eruption. Breakfast will be served here and includes a tasty tea or coffee. Make sure to enjoy your drink from the terraced gardens, because you’ll be in awe of the beautiful view over Lake Barrine.

Your next activity is trying some tasty products, like the Davidson plum and rainforest berries, citrus and tamarind. We’ll enjoy a native cocktail full of fruits while taking in the spectacular view over the Johnston River. Then we get up to the Australian Platypus Park where you can find many platypus enjoying their life. That’s not all we will be doing here. The platypus park offers smoked products with appetising herbs and spices from the area.

Later in the day, it’s time to discover the Southern Tablelands where you can find Mungalli Creek Dairy. The perfect place to sample their scrumptious produce, from cheese to ice cream. Next, taste the local products and ingredients of the specialty grocery store ‘The Humpy’. Widen your fruit vocabulary and go nuts on the hot local peanuts and macadamia nuts.

This foodie journey wouldn’t be complete without trying at least some local beverages. At Mt. Uncle Distillery you’ll get to know more about gin distilling and do you get the opportunity to slurp on some of their refreshing liqueurs and spirits. Finish the day with a bang! We’ll visit Emerald Creek Ice Creamery for a coffee with scones and an ice cream or sorbet tasting. Then sit back, relax and take in the fantastic scenery while we take you back to Cairns.
