We start the day in Perth and journey south towards Penguin Island. The island, just off the Perth coast in the wildlife sanctuary zone of Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, is home to WA’s largest colony of little penguins. It’s just a quick five-minute boat ride from the Mersey Point Jetty to Penguin Island, where we visit the Discovery Centre for the penguin feeding display. We spend some time exploring the island, taking in the crystal-clear waters and stunning beaches. Keep your eye out for little penguins in their natural habitat, as well as pelicans and other native wildlife.
Next up on the Penguin Island Tour is a 45-minute glass bottom boat tour around the island to spot more lively marine life including seals and dolphins. As we pass over seagrass meadows and limestone reefs, the glass bottom will allow you to keep your eye out for fish, crabs and other animals. Then it’s back to the mainland for a delicious café lunch.
After lunch, we will jump back on the bus to make our way to Caversham Wildlife Park. Here you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s cutest wildlife. Hand feed kangaroos, pat a wombat and have your photo taken with a koala. Get a taste of rural life with the Farm Show at Caversham Wildlife Park, an exciting presentation of whip cracking, sheep shearing, cow milking, lamb feeding and sheep mustering.
We finish off the day with a sweet stop at a local chocolatier for some delicious samplings, before heading back to Perth.
