Part of the enjoyment of this tour is the active hands-on participation of everyone and you will be required to assist with light duties such as setting up camp, preparing meals and cleaning dishes.
6 Day Esperance & Margaret River Camping Tour Itinerary
Discover the natural wonders of Australia’s South West – from the pristine white beaches that stretch along the coast to the lush forests of Walpole – on our 6 Day South West Camping Tour. Marvel at the spectacular naturally-formed rock formation of Wave Rock and see the breathtaking turquoise waters of Lucky Bay – and if you’re lucky enough, be greeted by a western grey kangaroo! This six-day journey will be sure to give you the real Australian experience as you settle each night inside your swags!
Day 1: Perth to Fitzgerald River National Park
We commence your adventure with an early departure from Perth, and make our way to the oldest inland town in Western Australia – York. Grab a quick coffee, and prepare for one of the highlights of the day, Wave Rock. Wonder at the 15m high formation which has been standing tall for over 2.7 billion years!
Continue your trip South as we make our way through the Fitzgerald River National Park. Keep an eye out for the colourful wildflowers, with over 200 unique species make up the UNESCO-listed Biosphere Reserve.
By late afternoon we will arrive at the Four Mile Campground, set up camp, and settle in for your first night under the WA sky!

Day 2: Fitzgerald River to Cape Le Grand National Park
Start your day with a filling breakfast, before venturing out for a 3km hike through the rugged quartzite slopes of East Mount Barren. After a short but challenging climb, you can catch your breathe while marveling at the incredible views over the Eyre Ranges, Culham and Hamersley Inlets and surrounding peaks.
Following on from your morning hike, we’ll head to Esperance for some well-earned downtime. Known for it’s stunning beaches and multiple National Parks, you’ll have time to relax and grab some lunch before a 90-minute Dabungool Cultural Experience.
After immersing yourself in culture, beaches and the natural beauty of the coastline, we will make our way to Cape Le Grand National Park. Set up camp in Lucky Bay and test out the squeaky white sand beach before we regroup for a sunset dinner.

Day 3: Cape Le Grand National Park
Take a morning sunrise stroll along Lucky Bay, keeping an eye out for the local western grey kangaroos who are often seen hopping along the beach against the morning glow.
Today is yours to explore Cape Le Grand National Park as you please. Relax on the beaches, take a swim in the crystal clear blue waters of the bays, or head off on one of the many walkways through the diverse bush. For any of the experienced hikers in the group, you will have the opportunity to take on the challenging grade-5 Frenchman Peak Hike. Scramble your way up the granite slabs to the 360° lookout for stunning views over the aquamarine waters and white sand beaches below.
We will spend another peaceful night at Lucky Bay, with a campsite dinner and sleeping under the stars.

Day 4: Cape Le Grand to Bremer Bay
Our time in Cape Le Grand comes to an end, as we continue our journey west towards Bremer Bay. Before reaching today’s destination, we will head back to Esperance to grab a coffee, stretch the legs, and re-stock supplies. Continue on the road to Ravensthorpe, a perfect stop to grab some lunch and check out the silo art that adds so much colour to this little township.
In the afternoon we will arrive in the coastal town of Bremer Bay. Before we head to our campsite for dinner, there will be enough time to enjoy one of the short scenic walks. Choose from an easy estuary trail, following the turquoise waters where the river meets the sea, or head up to the coastal lookout for views of the surrounding ocean and birdlife.
Relax for the evening as we prepare dinner at our base for tonight, Tozer’s Bush Camp, hidden away amongst the native bushland.

Day 5: Bremer Bay to Hamelin Bay
After an early breakfast we head west towards William Bay National park. Famous for turquoise waters and granite boulders surrounding the two iconic swimming spots of Green Pool and Elephant Rocks.
Following a refreshing dip, we will leave the coastline behind us and travel inland through the huge Karri Forests. Visit the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree, an old 75m high fire lookout. For those brave enough, climb the metal spikes to the lower platform lookout for stunning canopy forest views.
Travel back through the forest towards the beach as we make our way to Hamelin Bay Holiday Park, and set up our campsite by the sea for this evening.

Day 6: Hamelin Bay to Perth, via Margaret River
Our final day takes us deep into the Margaret River region. Visit the world-famous Surfers Point, home of the Margaret River Pro Surf Competition, before relaxing with some free time in the Margaret River township for lunch.
For an afternoon treat, we will get to experience what this region is best known for – wine! Enjoy two different tasting venues, and celebrate the unique local flavours before making our way back to Perth.
Before this adventure comes to an end, we will have one last stop in Busselton to stretch the legs and explore the artisan goods of Origins Market. Return to Perth around 7pm, where we bid our farewell from the wild coastline of southern WA!
