Day One (includes dinner)
Day one is dedicated to exploring the parts on the western end of the Great Ocean Road that the day trips don’t visit. You’ll get to see so much more of this stunning part of Australia that regular tours don’t have time for. Because a one day tour is just not enough!
We’ll leave Melbourne and head straight towards the Great Ocean Road, stopping on the way to get to know your fellow travellers over morning tea. We make our first beach stop at Logans Beach in Warrnambool, where we’ll look for whales (winter) or watch surfers in action (year-round). Next up, we head to Tower Hill, an extinct volcano that’s now a haven for wildlife. Once there, you can spot native critters, like kangaroos and koalas as we picnic amongst the trees.
Then it’s on the Great Ocean Road, where you can soak up the incredible views at Bay of Islands, Bay of Martyrs, The Grotto, and London Bridge, before experiencing the sunset at the 12 Apostles. You can hang around to see the penguins return up the beach from their day of fishing here, too. We finish off the night at Port Campbell Hostel, where we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner together before heading to bed.
Day Two (includes breakfast)
On day two, we make our way back to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road. We start the day by visiting Loch Ard Gorge and the 12 Apostles in daylight. We’ll be here way before any of the other tours arrive, so you can enjoy these incredible landmarks without the crowds.
We’ll then move on to Gibson Steps and Maits Rest, where you’ll have the chance to take a guided rainforest walk.
Lunch will be in the quaint town of Apollo Bay, and then it’s on to Bells Beach, where you can kick back, relax, and watch the surfers ride the waves. We arrive back in Melbourne in the evening. It will take about an hour and a half to drive back, so check out the photos you’ve taken along the road or snooze away in your seat.
