Things to do at Kennett River
Continuing along the Great Ocean Road, 35 minutes west of Lorne you will reach the quaint seaside town of Kennett River. During the summer you can spend the day at the popular surf beach or relaxing by the calm river. Stay warm when visiting during winter and spot whales during their seasonal migration.
A secluded and quiet town just over 2 hours from Melbourne. Kennett River is a family favourite for camping, whale watching and spotting colourful native birdlife.
Glow worms at Grey River Reserve – this night walk is something magical. Walking through darkness at Grey River Reserve you will reach the walls where hundreds of glow worms are visible. Emitting a blue bioluminescent glow, this is a magnificent and peaceful experience.
Wildlife Walk – have your camera ready as you walk along Grey River Road towards the Great Otway National Park. Koalas are spotted in the treetops, as well as colourful rosellas. And even if you can’t see them, you’ll likely hear a cackling kookaburra.

Wye River – less than 10 minutes away from Kennett River Caravan Park. Wye River is a relaxing alternative to the bustling Lorne and Apollo Bay. Serviced by a general store and the Wye Beach Hotel, which boasts an impressive view. The river is safe for swimming and lazing about in summer.
Apollo Bay – continue west to reach the popular town of Apollo Bay. Recognised as a top tourism town in 2021, this town is ready to be explored.
