We depart from Darwin and make our way across the outback to Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) where we’ll stop for a swim to cool off in the afternoon sunshine. Relax along the Katherine River and admire how this powerful river has carved into the ancient sandstone walls to make the spectacular gorge. It’s then onto Mataranka where we will spend our first night.
To begin the day we make our way to the popular Mataranka Hot Springs, where you can soak in these thermals baths and relax. We then hit the road continuing on to Daly Waters to visit the iconic Daly Waters Pub. Historically, this was once a watering hole where drovers and explorers would stop and recuperate. After an icy beer and some photos we continue on to Banka Banka station where will will be setting up camp for the night.
The third day begins early as we make our way to Alice Springs. Along the way, you’ll be exposed to incredible landscapes that seem to roll on forever. We’ll stop off at the Devils Marbles, a unique and surreal natural landmark in the heart of the outback, before we arrive in Alice Springs in the evening. This is where your three-day adventure from Darwin comes to and end.
