3 Day Kakadu Tour - Camping Itinerary
Tour Highlights
Three full days exploring the highlights of Kakadu
Spot crocodiles, birds and more on a Corroboree Billabong wildlife cruise
Swim in refreshing waterholes including Gunlom Falls, Maguk and Jim Jim Falls
Learn about the history and culture of Kakadu’s traditional owners
Day One (Lunch & Dinner)
We head out of Darwin nice and early, making our way straight to the Corroboree Billabong for a wildlife cruise. A haven for birdlife, the Corroboree Billabong offers awesome opportunities to observe crocodiles and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Once back on land, we continue our journey to Kakadu and enjoy a lunch stop near the East Alligator River, with more possibilities for wildlife spotting.
In the afternoon, we visit Ubirr Rock to admire some of Australia’s best examples of Aboriginal rock art and learn their meaning and significance. Climb to the top of Ubirr Rock and take in the spectacular views over the Nardab floodplains and beyond before we make our way to our safari camp at Mardukal Billabong. Relax around the campfire and admire the incredible night sky before falling asleep to the peaceful sounds of Kakadu.
Day Two (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
We begin day two with a 4WD to the towering Jim Jim Falls, Kakadu’s tallest waterfall. Enjoy a walk through the monsoon forests and over boulders to arrive at the plunge pool, where you can cool off with a swim in the refreshing waters or laze about on the sandy beach. We’ll tuck into some lunch before making our way to Nourlangie Rock to appreciate more rock art and learn about the Dreamtime stories of the area. Take in more impressive views from the Gunwhardewharde lookout before we call into the Warradjan Cultural Centre. Here you can wander through the interactive displays for fascinating insights into the traditions, knowledge and history of Kakadu’s traditional owners. We’ll bed down for a second night at our safari camp near Mardukal Billabong.
Day Three (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Our final day kicks off with a short 1km trek through lush vegetation to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pristine fresh water. In the afternoon, we make our final stop at Gunlom Falls where you can soak up the incredible views from the natural infinity pool. Enjoy a swim and appreciate the beauty of Kakadu one last time before we head back to Darwin via Pine Creek.
