Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise
While many people have viewed Darwin Harbour from the top of the mid-century towers at the city’s heart, nothing can quite match the experience of witnessing the extraordinary Darwin sunsets colouring the evening sky from the harbour itself. Our Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise enables you to do just that, from one of three decks on the 25-metre-long luxury catamaran, The Charles Darwin.

Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise Itinerary
From its base at Stokes Hill Wharf in the central Darwin Waterfront Precinct, the Charles Darwin offers everything you might want from a harbour cruise. The catamaran’s two fully-enclosed and air-conditioned interior decks provide a comfortable ride without any loss of views thanks to large wrap around windows. At the same time, those who want to feel the cooling evening air on their skin can witness the spectacle of a Darwin sunset from multiple exterior deck spaces, including a partially shaded open-air top deck.
Lasting 2.5 hours, the ship sails roughly parallel to the city esplanade at a cruising speed of four knots per hour to Larrakeyah Naval barracks, Cullen Bay and Fannie Bay, as the sun makes its descent. Going beyond the sunset, the onboard team provide you with an informative commentary detailing the city’s history while you take in the sights around you.
Should you be looking to make your time on the harbour’s still waters all the more special, the Charles Darwin has an onboard licenced bar, allowing you to spend a romantic moment with a loved one, commemorate the occasion with friends old and new, and even enjoy some tasty snacks.
While it’s light enough, you should also keep your eye out for some of the Top End’s most evocative wildlife species, including saltwater crocs, pods of dolphins, sea turtles, and dugongs.
Throughout the course of the evening, you will get to enjoy a grazing platter, which includes prawns, prosciutto and cheeses, or a vegetarian/vegan option with arancini balls, fresh fruit and cauliflower tempura. You’ll also get to enjoy a delicious, locally made dessert while admiring the setting sun.
