Morning Jumping Crocodile Cruise from Darwin Itinerary
We’ll start the morning in Darwin, heading out towards the Adelaide River, where we will meet the famous Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Here you will climb aboard the custom-made boat and set out down the murky river in search of the infamous saltwater crocodile.
As you cruise down the river, your expert wildlife guide will educate you on the biology, nature and habitat of the local “salties”. There is plenty to learn about what they eat, how they hunt, and their long history on Earth since the time of the dinosaurs. Even though crocodiles usually like to hide in the murky water or on the shady riverbanks, our guides are familiar with the regular inhabitants and know where to find them.
We’ll tempt the crocs out with a tasty morsel of buffalo meat, and that’s when the real entertainment begins. Be amazed as the crocodiles launch themselves from the water using natural techniques they developed for hunting birds and flying foxes. Don’t worry, feeding the animals in this way is safe for both the crocs and our astounded travellers.
While we continue our cruise, keep an eye out for some of the other animals that call this area home. The Marrakai wetlands are a haven for hundreds of species of birds and reptiles.
Once the crocodiles are fed and you know all there is to know about these incredible creatures, we’ll return to dry land and head back to Darwin.
