The tour will take you on a transcontinental journey to uncover many iconic highlights including Flinders Ranges, Kings Canyon, Devils Marbles and Mataranka Thermal Springs - just to name a few. Your accommodation is mostly camping underneath the stars inside a swag, with some nights sleeping in a dormitory accommodation.

Our Adelaide to Darwin tour is divided into sections, giving you the opportunity to spend more time in Alice Springs before heading onto the next leg of the journey. This means you have more time to explore new places or simply hop on board the next leg of your tour to Darwin. When booking this overland online, just select the dates that best suit you. Your accommodation is included whilst on tour to Darwin, but we leave the accommodation between the tours completely up to you. You can take a break from swag camping and splurge on a fancy hotel or even go glamping – the choice is yours!

This package is suitable for travellers aged 18 – 60 years old. We do not recommend this tour for travellers over 60 years, however contact us if you consider yourself young at heart and still wish to join the tour. Minimum age for participation is 8 years, but please consider whether this style of travel is appropriate for your child.
Some hikes involve steep climbs in extreme heat during summer. A reasonable level of fitness is therefore required for this tour.
Sleeping bags can be hired for $50 the first five nights and $30 for the second leg (paid in cash on the morning of the tour before each departure).

This Adelaide to Darwin Overland Tour combines our 6 Days Adelaide to Alice Springs with Uluru and 3 Day Alice Springs to Darwin
The first day of your Adelaide to Darwin Tour will start off travelling through the green hills of the Clare Valley wine region. Shortly after arriving in the outback region of the Flinders Ranges, enjoy a nice stroll through the Alligator Gorge. While there you will see an array of wildflowers surrounding the region. At night, settle in your swag in the very heart of the Flinders Ranges.

We kick start our morning early to uncover the Opal City of the World, Coober Pedy. You will discover the ever-changing landscapes and the abundance of wildlife such as kangaroos, emus and eagles. We’ll take you on a guided tour to the Opal Mine and Museum to learn about the significant history and culture behind this unique underground city. Next, we will take you on an eye-opening journey to meet the injured and rescued Australian kangaroos and baby joeys at Josephine’s Kangaroo Orphanage. You’ll be entertained by the stories about their unique personalities and histories. Tonight, we sleep in an underground bunkhouse – just like the locals!

Day three is a big day, travelling along the Stuart Highway with several pit stops along the way. In the evening we arrive at the breathtaking Watarrka National Park, also known as the Kings Canyon, where we will set up for camp.

Start your morning with an early breakfast as we start our journey to explore Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon) and be amazed by the sandstone walls and plateau of rocky domes. The 3 – 4 hour King Canyon Rim Walk is one of Australia’s most magnificent walks, and you will be rewarded with the breathtaking scenery of the Garden of Eden and the marvellous birds-eye view of the Watarrka National Park. Following a well-deserved lunch, we make our way to Uluru. At Uluru, we’ll learn about the cultural and significant history of the local Indigenous population. In the evening, observe the sky change colours before your very eyes as the sun sets over Uluru.

Wake early to embark on a 3 ½ hour walk around the base of Uluru. As we hike through the acacia woodlands and grassy clay pans, you’ll get the chance to spot some amazing wildlife. Be astounded by the geological wonders of the Rock and immerse yourself in the culture and history of the local Aborigines. Finish the day with optional activities around Uluru or simply enjoy relaxing in the campground.

Our day sixth of our Adelaide to Darwin Tour will take you to experience a marvellous sunrise over Kata Tjuta. We visit Kata Tjuta to walk the Valley of the Winds with its ancient rock formation and breathtaking views. A well deserved lunch is served as we hit the road to Alice Springs.

We start our morning bright and early to depart Alice Springs and journey along the Stuart Highway to our first stop for the day, the impressive granite boulders of Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). Learn about the ancient Dreamtime stories of the area and take in the picturesque ancient landscape. The journey continues to the historic Banka Banka Cattle Station where we will be camping for the night.

After another early wake up, we enjoy a delicious breakfast before making our way to the famous Daly Waters Pub. This location is historically known as a popular stop for drovers and explorers many years ago. After an ice-cold beer, we then journey on to the Mataranka Hot Springs. Take a long soak in these thermal waters before we continue on to Katherine for our second and final night.

The last day of your journey from Adelaide to Darwin, starts off early travelling north, to enjoy a relaxing swim in the Katherine Gorge at Nitmiluk National Park. Admire how the powerful Katherine river has sculpted the enormous gorge before we make tracks and arrive in Darwin to conclude this adventure-filled tour.
