Bondi Beach is Australia’s most famous beach and has some of the most pristine waters to swim in.

Without a doubt, Bondi Beach is known across Australia for its golden sand and the gorgeous blue ocean. The town itself is chill but is also bustling with great cafes, restaurants, shopping, and the popular tattoo shop, Bondi Ink.

If you’re in Sydney, the easiest way to get to Bondi Beach is via the 40 minute ride on the 333 bus route. Or you can go on the T4 train from Central Station to Bondi Junction, then a bus towards Bondi via bus 333, 379 or 380. For more of a scenic route, take a ferry to Watsons Bay from Circular Quay, then the 380 bus to Bondi Beach.

You will find most people lying on the beach with food, a good book, or with their family or friends enjoying the day.

  • Surfing

Bondi Beach is one of the most famous surf beaches with the best waves to catch. You can surf all year round with lifeguards patrolling the beach.

If you’ve never surfed before, there are surf schools available before you head out into the water. When you’ve become an experienced surfer, you can go down to the southern end of the beach to get the more powerful waves.

There are plenty of shops nearby that sell all things you need for surfing and there is surfboard hire offered.

  • Swimming

Bondi Icebergs is one of the oldest swimming clubs in Australia located at the southern end of Bondi Beach. There is a 50 metre pool and a kids pool for the public that is located right by the ocean.

  • Spot the whales

Be lucky enough to spot a couple of the 40,000 humpback and southern right whales as they migrate. Between May and November, the whales travel by the coastline in Sydney as they head towards the Pacific waters from Antarctica.

  • Walk along the beach

Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk is a six kilometre walk where you walk by four beaches. If you do this walk during late spring, there is a public outdoor sculpture exhibit, Sculpture by the Sea. There are heaps of different sculptures to see along the walkway which has become one of the most popular events to take place in Sydney.

  • Eateries

Right by Bondi Beach has a selection of cafes and restaurants, or just by Bondi Beach Park, there are plenty more eateries available. Popular recommendations include Promenade Restaurant, Bondi Surf Seafoods, and Don Pedros Bondi.
