Leura is on Dharug and Gundungurra Country and is a beautiful area to see parts of the Blue Mountains. Leura is one of prettiest and nicest place to visit in the Blue Mountains with picturesque views and beautiful gardens.

How can I get to Leura?

Leura is a suburb in the Blue Mountains which is over an hour away from Sydney. If driving by car, it will take about an hour and a half to reach Leura from Sydney. You will want to drive down the M4 and Great Western Highway/A32.

Getting to Leura from Sydney via public transport takes about two hours by train. You can get a train from Central Station on the Blue Mountains Line down to Leura Station.

The best time to visit Leura

Some of the best time to visit Leura is during spring which is between September to November. Around this time, you have heaps of flowers blooming, especially the bulbs and cherry blossoms.

Leura is one of the main attractions for travellers to visit during spring because of how vibrant and colourful it can get. And each year around October there is the Leura Gardens Festival.

What can I do in Leura?

Leura is a town known to be a picturesque town in the Blue Mountains with many opportunities to go shopping or to see amazing views. You are also a short drive from Katoomba which is where you can see the Three Sisters and Scenic World.

• Shopping

  Leura is a great area in the Blue Mountains to do your shopping! Head to Leura Mall right by the station and check out the street of shops and the shopping centre. You can check out the Toy Shop or the Candy Store if you have children with you. Head to the French Shoppe, Bijou, or Megalong Books if you’re looking for a gift to buy. There are also plenty of clothing stores to pop into.

• Everglades House & Gardens

  The Everglades House & Gardens is a spectacular heritage residence with beautifully designed gardens. From here you can enjoy the views of the Blue Mountains when walking through the gardens and checking out the Art Deco house. On the weekends you can enjoy some tea in the tea rooms.

• Sublime Point Lookout

  The lookout offers a great picnic spot, an area for birdwatching, and amazing scenic views across the Blue Mountains. From here you’ll see views of Jamison Valley and often people will rock climb around the area.
