The Gap, New South Wales

A scenic cliff that looks over the gorgeous blue Tasman Sea.

The Gap is an incredible ocean cliff at South Head in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. You can view The Gap at the nearby the viewing platform. When you reach the viewing platform, you can get a ferry from Rose Bay, Circular Quay, Manly, Darling Harbour, or Garden Island to Watsons Bay. From Watsons Bay Wharf, it is only a short five minute walk to The Gap.

Watsons Bay Beach

Watsons Bay Beach is a beautiful scenic spot to view the Sydney skyline from afar. Bring a book or picnic food and enjoy a few hours relaxing on the golden sand and watching the boats float in the water.

Water activities

Spend a day in the water and go swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, or kayaking. Nearby The Gap, there is Camp Cove Beach to spend the day by the water with a nearby cafe for refreshments.

Near The Gap, there is a selection of different cuisine restaurants and cafes to go to. There are even some eateries right by the beach, perfect to sit down for a meal and a drink to watch the sunset.

Gap Bluff Walking Track

The Gap Bluff Walking Track is a short 30 minute return walk that explores the coastal cliffs. Along the way, you’ll see amazing views of the coast and see Sydney Harbour and the Sydney skyline.

Start the walk from Watsons Bay and end up at Gun Emplacement Lookout. As you’re walking, you should stop to look at The Gap, The Gap Bluff Centre, and The Gap Bluff Lookout.
